Civic Ground

Civic Ground is where we explain the machinery. Each piece takes one question people actually argue about, like who sets DUI penalties or what a county council can legally do, and answers it from the statute, the budget ordinance or the court record.

Articles are written by Nathaniel Brooks, a disclosed editorial pen name used by the Cornerstonepolitics content team. Every claim links to a source you can open yourself. When something is disputed, we say who disputes it and what the record can and can't settle. We cover South Carolina closely, with extra attention on Horry County, Myrtle Beach, Conway and the Grand Strand, and we cover federal questions when they reach local budgets and ballots.

That's our first explainer. New Civic Ground pieces will appear here as they're published, newest first.
